The second edition of AIDIR Ciutat Vella highlights nursing leadership in health education as a means of social progress

In collaboration with the “la Caixa” Hope Foundation, the UIC Barcelona Department of Nursing held the second edition of the AIDIR Ciutat Vella Conference on 23 November at the headquarters of the charity organisation.

Nursing students, department managers and representatives of the Hope Foundation all participated in this second edition of the conference, which publicised the teaching and social service work carried out by the UIC Barcelona AIDIR units which focus on health education. The conference highlighted nursing leadership in health education as a means of social progress.

This year's edition featured numerous presentations and talks from professionals of the organisation: among whom were Lorena Moya, leading AIDIR nurse; Berta Boadas, coordinator of the Hope Foundation; and Dr Marian de Juan, Head of AIDIR Pere i Virgili and lecturer of nursing at UIC Barcelona.

“This conference allows us to present the AIDIR service training project, letting students show off the knowledge and skills acquired during their university education to the community,” explained Dr Albert Gallart, head of AIDIR Ciutat Vella and deputy director of the bachelor’s degree in Nursing at the university.
