The second edition of the Student-Mentor Programme organised by the Faculty of Dentistry has now ended

On 16 June there was a closing event for the Student-Mentor Programme, during which certificates were handed out to students who participated in this second edition. Dr Lluís Giner, Dean of the Faculty, Mr Evaristo Aguado, Director of Training, Guidance and Coaching at UIC Barcelona, and Dr Antoni Lluch, Director of the Student-Mentor Programme, all participated in this event.

The Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr Lluís Giner, was in charge of welcoming attendees and reflecting on the importance of the programme and its application within the area of Health Sciences.  After this, Evaristo Aguado, Director of Training, Guidance and Coaching at UIC Barcelona, gave a talk on professional excellence.  At the end of the event, Dr Antoni Lluch, the programme director, presented the results obtained from the course, particularly underlining the recognition the programme has received from the ADEE (Association for Dental Education in Europe). This association awarded a €3.000 grant towards the programme.

The aim behind the Student-Mentor Programme is to facilitate the incorporation of third year Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry programme students into work experience at the University Dental Clinic.  With the support of fifth year students, who act as their mentors, participants receive training in various competences such as self-management, managing their workload and interacting with patients.
