On-site classes for our Fashion and Society course

On Saturday 25 March the on-site classes took place for the blended learning Fashion and Society course offered by the Faculty of Humanities in cooperation with Fashion Frame in the Pineda Foundation.

The event consisted of two sessions. The first one was “Men’s fashion, women’s fashion: a historical perspective”, taught by Núria Aragonés, a professor of the History of Clothing and Sociology at the University of Barcelona (UB - LCI Barcelona). The professor provided a very comprehensive overview of the history of fashion from the Middle Ages up to the birth of prêt-à-porter.

The second edition was “Fashion as a method of personal identification and social integration” taught by professor Montserrat Martorell from FashionFrame, in the Pineda Foundation. Martorell talked about the social function of fashion and particularly looked at it in terms of its strength in today’s consumerist society.

The sessions ended with a practical workshop, in which students were able to share their experiences and opinions.  The course will continue online until 24 April.
