Student Adriano Sabia wins second prize at the Spanish Society of Orthodontics awards
The student from our Master's Degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics participated in the category of first oral paper with a study on low-power laser therapy
Adriano Sabia, a third-year student taking a Master's Degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at UIC Barcelona has won second prize in the category of First Oral Paper at the awards organised by the Spanish Society of Orthodontics (SEDO) thanks to his research into the Effect of low-power laser therapy in orthodontics after the extraction of premolars: simple blind study.
The research aimed to analyse the effect of low-power laser application on the closing speed of the extraction spaces. As the student himself said, “The project was a continuation of studies on the effect of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) on orthodontic treatment, undertaken during my master’s degree under the guidance of Dr Andreu Puigdollers. The decision on the specific characteristics of LLLT in premolars was made along with my supervisor, Dr Montserrat Artés.”
“Carrying out this research was a great learning experience, a great honour and an incredible reward after these last three years of hard work doing my master’s degree,” explained Sabia.
The research was conducted under the guidance of Dr Andreu Puigdollers and under the supervision of Dr Montserrat Artés, both lecturers from the Department of Orthodontics at UIC Barcelona. “The nomination would not have been possible without them,” he said.
