Solidarity with the victims of the DANA floods
UIC Barcelona deeply regrets the loss of lives as a result of the DANA floods, which has affected several autonomous communities, especially Valencia, and commiserates with their families and loved ones.
As a member of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) and the Xarxa Vives d’Universitats, UIC Barcelona is taking part in the mourning period declared on various campuses, and shares in the messages of condolence issued by different universities.
On behalf of our entire university community, we would like to thank the tireless efforts of the emergency services, law enforcement, volunteers, and local authorities who are working day and night to find missing people, ensure safety for all, and mitigate the damage.
In line with our social commitment, at UIC Barcelona we would like to appeal for solidarity by joining the Food Bank’s campaign to collect essential goods to send to the affected areas. You can also collaborate by making a donation to Caritas Valencia, which are helping the affected families.
As we all face this difficult situation together, we trust that the solidarity and empathy that characterise society in general, and the University in particular, will prevail.
