Students from UIC Barcelona's Degree in Physiotherapy participate as volunteers in the Antena Solidària Race
Some 15 Physiotherapy students participated as volunteers in the post-race recovery area in the 6th edition of the Antena Solidària Trail Pedralbes solidarity race
On Sunday 13 November, the 6th edition of the Antena Solidaria Trail Pedralbes race took place, sponsored by UIC Barcelona as the main partner, as part of its 25th anniversary. Starting from the Pedralbes Monastery Square, and going through the trails of Collserola, the race gathered more than 500 athletes and 150 volunteers.
Some 15 Physiotherapy students, most in their 3rd and 4th year, under the direction of teacher Pol Serra, participated as volunteers in the post-race recovery area. Here, the runners who needed assistance could be attended by these future physiotherapists, with different interventions such as massage and stretching, to release muscle tension and flush the metabolites caused by the exercise, reduce fatigue and facilitate the return to normal.
The Antena Solidària Trail Pedralbes is a race that seeks to make a direct impact on the education of the younger generations in Ghana, through NASCO Feeding Minds, which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary, and to finance grants for the Moragas Special Education School [EES Moragas] in Barcelona. The race was organised by the Pedralbes Student Resident Hall [Col·legi Major Universitari Pedralbes] and the Pedralbes Neighbourhood Association and sponsored by UIC Barcelona.
