Dr. Federico Hernández Alfaro presented the paper “Surgery First: What Have We Learnt?”, and sat on the committee of experts responsible for organizing the conference. Drs. Javier Mareque and Samir Aboul Hosn moderated two roundtable discussions.

ICOMS 21 brought together over 2,000 experts to discuss all aspects of maxillofacial surgery of the face, neck and skull, with particular reference to post-traumatic reconstruction, cancer-related surgery, and the correction of congenital deformities.

Held at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya, this edition of the conference was attended by more people than any of the previous twenty editions. The conference is held every two years, with the next edition scheduled to be held in Melbourne in 2015.
