Three grants awarded to three UIC Barcelona students to attend the Berkeley Summer Sessions programme in California
Two students from the Faculty of Humanities, and one from the Double Degree in Education and Psychology, will travel to the United States this summer to study at UC Berkeley thanks to the agreement that the American university established with UIC Barcelona in 2016
On 24 January, UIC Barcelona awarded three grants to three of its students, allowing them to take part in the Berkeley Summer Sessions programme this summer at the University of California in Berkeley, United States.
Of the seventeen student nominations submitted, and of the ten finalists who completed the interview stage, the grants were awarded to Laura Isabel Barragán and Natalia Claveria, students from the Faculty of Humanities, and Marta Díez, from the Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Psychology.
The Berkeley Summer Sessions programme is organised in such a way that several selected university students can study a series of subjects at the University of California, Berkeley, over a period of between three and eight weeks in the summer.
This international programme is the most sought-after each year by UIC Barcelona students, the selection process of which is “demanding and rigorous. Each candidate’s academic transcript is taken into account as well as the results of their interview”, according to the director of the International Relations Service, Isabel Pera.
UIC Barcelona has had this agreement with UC Berkeley for six years, allowing students to participate in the Berkeley Summer Sessions programme. In addition to having the opportunity to study internationally at this leading institution, the subjects the students take are officially recognised by their degree programme at UIC Barcelona.
