TORRELLA Ingenieria-Arquitectura committed to training UIC Barcelona architecture students with the Josep Torrella Scholarship
TORRELLA Ingenieria-Arquitectura and UIC Barcelona have signed an agreement that materialised in the creation of a new scholarship that extends the University’s scholarship and grant programme, in support of training in industrial architecture.
Today, the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) and TORRELLA Ingenieria-Arquitectura, a leading company in consultancy, architecture and engineering, signed a collaboration agreement involving the creation of the Josep Torrella Scholarship, a new scholarship for architecture students to add to the university’s grant programme.
The Josep Torrella Scholarship will be offered to a student in their 4th or 5th year of the Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, to promote industrial architecture studies. During the 2022-2023 academic year, the student will be able to carry out extracurcurricular internships at TORRELLA Ingenieria-Arquitectura and once they finish their studies, they will have the opportunity to join the company.
The name of the scholarship pays tribute to the promoter of the professional office of TORRELLA Ingenieria-Arquitectura, founded in 1960 by Josep Torrella, Doctor in Industrial Engineering and Professor of Construction and Industrial Architecture at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). TORRELLA Ingeniería-Arquitectura created this scholarship because of its "firm commitment to the all-round training of people," as the company’s CEO, Goretti Torrella, reaffirmed during the signing. Alfonso Méndiz, rector of UIC Barcelona, thanked TORRELLA Ingeniería-Arquitectura for its contribution and commitment to the university project, and its commitment to training.
This scholarship adds to the funding programme of the university, which is currently at 5.7 million euros.
