Two Dermatology Experts Hold Workshops for Medical Students

Dermatologists Ramon Grimalt and Alejandro Camps, who both have doctoral degrees in Medicine and Surgery, conducted practical workshops for fifth-year Medical students at the UIC in collaboration with the Genové and Fargon laboratories.

The workshops were held as part of the Dermatology course and aimed to provide students with practical and simulation-based training. The students were able to gain firsthand knowledge of laser treatment techniques, which were conducted by Dr. Alejandro Camps, a dermatologist at the Teknon Medical Centre, thanks to materials donated by the Genové laboratory.

During this workshop, the students experimented with the different wavelengths and devices used to carry out dermatological treatments.

In the other workshop, which was conducted by Dr. Ramon Grimalt, the students were given the opportunity to touch, smell and feel various dermatological excipients to learn about the differences between them. It was clear from this second workshop that there are distinctions to be made when prescribing creams, gels, ointments and lotions, even when they contain the same active ingredient. It is important to consider the excipient and not just the active ingredient, since the treatment depends on the affected body part and the stage of the disorder. The materials used by the students during this workshop were donated by the Fagron laboratory.
