Two University Master’s Degrees in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences receive accreditation from AQU Catalunya

In recent months, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences has been immersed in the accreditation process for the following degree programmes: the University Master’s Degree in Paediatric Physiotherapy, and the University Master’s Degree in Clinical Research.  This process is described in the Framework for the Verification, Monitoring, Modification and Accreditation of officially recognised degree programmes (MVSMA) established by the Catalan University Quality Assurance System, AQU Catalunya.

On 28 and 29 October 2020 the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences received a visit from an external evaluation committee, appointed by AQU Catalunya, with the aim of evaluating the development of the above mentioned degree programmes.

The two degree programmes passed this accreditation process successfully. This is essential so they can maintain their official status.

Additionally, the external committee highlighted several strong points and good practices that show that the programmes work well and underlined the programmes’ commitment to the publication of information, the high level of student satisfaction and good performance rates.  In the case of the University Master’s Degree in Paediatric Physiotherapy, they specifically highlighted the broad professional experience of the professors and lecturers and the advanced and specific knowledge students acquired in their clinical practicums.  In relation to the University Master’s Degree in Clinical Research, they underlined the fact that the teaching staff are active researchers themselves who are working on competitive projects, as well as the extensive and detailed information provided to students about access to doctoral programmes.

At the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences we will continue to work to maintain and improve the academic quality of these two programmes that form part of our course catalogue.

Finally, the Faculty Board would like to thank all the members of the university community who worked with us throughout the process, especially those who directly participated in the visit.
