Once again, the University consolidates its position in the international ranking of the best universities in the world, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025 (THE-WUR)
UIC Barcelona has retained its position in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. In the 2025 edition it is in position 801 - 1,000 of the 2,092 ranked universities worldwide. At national level, it is number =15 of 55 ranked Spanish universities.
The Times Higher Education (THE) university ranking includes 18 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure each institution’s performance in five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.
In comparing pillars between the ranked institutions, in this edition UIC Barcelona has highlighted its increased scores compared to last year in two of the five indicators that make up the ranking: industry (+2.7%), and international outlook (+3.6%). This last pillar positions UIC Barcelona among the top five Spanish universities.
The THE World University Rankings continues to be the leading international ranking underpinning excellence in higher education. This year the ranking includes 2,092 institutions from 115 countries. Compared to last year, it now includes 185 new institutions and is based on a participation of 2,860 higher education and research institutions worldwide. This year’s ranking analysed more than 157 million citations in 18 million research publications and included survey responses from 93,000 academics around the world.
The objective of the UIC Barcelona Statistical Data and Rankings Office is to measure the performance of the different aspects of the University through data and evidence, allowing it to be visible both nationally and internationally through the social impact produced by rankings and listings.
