UIC Barcelona and Banco Santander reaffirm their commitment to higher education

Banco Santander renews its support to the University by allocating funds for grants, research and activities related to entrepreneurship and training

UIC Barcelona and Banco Santander, whose relationship dates back to 2004, have renewed their cooperation agreement. This agreement represents the financial institution’s renewed commitment to UIC Barcelona by boosting access to quality university education, the promotion of entrepreneurship among university students and the improvement of employability and access to quality employment for young people.

Through Santander Universities, the bank has once again shown its support to the University by providing funds for grants, research and activities related to entrepreneurship and training.

In particular, the funds will go towards the Banco Santander Alumni Grants programme, which will benefit eighteen students at the University. UIC Barcelona also participates in the Santander Progreso Grants programme, which facilitates access to higher education for students with the best academic records in the country applying to any bachelor’s or postgraduate degree, whilst taking into account their socio-economic situation.

With regard to research funds, thanks to Banco Santander’s contribution, a young female postdoctoral researcher can now join the IsFamily Santander Chair at the UIC Barcelona Institute of Advanced Family Studies (IESF). The aim of the research will be to study how families transfer resources from one generation to the next by analysing different criteria such as finances, health and care and education.

Also, thanks to this collaboration with Santander, the University will also promote learning activities aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and the creation of innovative new companies with social impact.

Banco Santander, a leader in responsible banking, maintains a firm commitment to progress and inclusive and sustainable growth, with a pioneering and consolidated commitment to higher education, which it has been growing through Santander Universities for 25 years and which distinguishes it from the rest of the world's financial institutions. The bank has allocated more than €2 billion and awarded more than 630,000 grants and financial support packages since launching its programmes.
