UIC Barcelona and Sant Cugat Rugby Club join forces to promote involvement in sport
The Club will take the university’s women’s and men’s teams under its wing and welcome UIC Barcelona students in their weekly training sessions and affiliate competitions
UIC Barcelona and Sant Cugat Rubgy Club (CRSC) have reached a collaboration agreement to help promote university rugby leagues and incorporate UIC Barcelona student teams into the Sant Cugat club this academic year.
Students have already had the chance to train at the Guinardera grounds and both organisations have built a very positive relationship. Following the signing of the agreement and the university teams’ inclusion in the CRSC ranks, this pact will help improve players’ performance, set new goals and challenges, develop players’ technique and offer Alumni members the chance to take part in affiliate competitions and attend more weekly training sessions from September onwards.
UIC Barcelona students that would like to join the rugby team will now become members of the Club, which entails three weekly training sessions and representing the university in Catalan University Championships. Toni Andreu and Albert Casorrán will head up the men’s and women’s teams respectively.
This agreement aims to help promote involvement in university rugby and build ties with a club that currently plays in the men's Honour Division B and the women's Iberdrola League Honour Division B. The agreement also reinforces ties between the university and Sant Cugat, which was named university sports town for the 2014-2015 academic year, during which UIC Barcelona also coordinated the Catalan University Championships.
