The UIC Barcelona Career Forum brings together 28 of the most influential businesses in the Spanish market

Another year, the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Law have organised this encounter, which brings last-year undergraduates into contact with the business world

On 19 October, 28 businesses attended the UIC Barcelona Career Forum organised by the University's Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences and Faculty of Law. Passeig de la Fontana on the Barcelona Campus was lined with stands for businesses, firms and multinational companies to put UIC Barcelona master’s degree students and last-year bachelor’s degree students in contact with the business world.

The UIC Barcelona Career Forum, which has just completed its 7th edition, aims to be an event that encourages networking and student access to work placements and their first work experience. Professional Work Placements Coordinator for the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, Cristina Prats commented, “these kinds of events are very important because they provide students with their first contact with the professional world. It is an event where they can learn face-to-face about potential work placement positions and more about junior positions; for businesses and firms, it is an excellent opportunity to be seen and attract talent.”

The Forum brought together different collaborating businesses from both faculties, all of them references in the sector: professional services firms, large auditing and consulting firms and renown law firms. “They are partners who know and are well-acquainted with the potential and profile of our students and who want to capture UIC Barcelona talent,” explained Reyes Alcón, coordinator for Professional Work Placements and Master’s Degrees at the Faculty of Law.

And in keeping with the tradition, many of the attending businesses were represented by UIC Barcelona alumni, who came back to the University as professionals in their respective firms. “This year we had a total of 17 alumni. It was a real privilege and we were proud to have supported them during their training, see them grow professionally and continue to stay in contact with the Faculty,” Alcón said.

A stand was also set up among the participating businesses to promote the UIC Barcelona’s master’s programmes and the Carreer Department. Director of Alumni & Careers, Frederic Van Dyck explained, “the Department of Alumni & Careers wants to stand by students as they go through the process of entering the world of employment, supporting them and providing all the tools we have available, like helping them prepare recruitment interviews and resumes, and also through our employment portal.”

The following businesses and companies participated in this edition: Abante Asesores, Apartool, AVQ Legal SLP, Baker & McKenzie, BDO, Bove Montero y Asociados, Cuatrecasas, Crowe Spain, Conector, Danone, Deloitte, DS Duran Sindreu, DWF-RCD, EY Spain, Factorial HR, Garrigues, Grant Thornton, Hotel Arts Barcelona, KPMG, Nestlé, Page Personnel, Pérez-Llorca, PwC, Ramón y Cajal Abogados, RocaJunyent, RSM Spain, Volotea, Wurth and the UIC Barcelona Careers Department and Master’s Degrees.
