The UIC Barcelona Celebrates Europe Day

In honour of Europe Day, which is celebrated every 9 May, the Charlemagne Institute for European Studies (ICEE) held a conference that addressed the challenges the European Union will face in the immediate future.

“Our first goal is to take on board the call made by the European Parliament and former President of the European Commission Durao Barroso to reflect on what should be the new narrative that brings citizens’ interests together at this crossroads of European integration”, said Dr. Carlos Espaliú, the Director of the Institute. “Our second goal is to inform students and graduates about their internship opportunities within the European Union and access to jobs in EU institutions.”

The event included a roundtable discussion that featured contributions from Carlos Espaliú, Maria Mut, Andreu Olesti, the head of the European Law department at the Universitat de Barcelona, Bernat Torres, a Philosophy lecturer in the Faculty of Humanities, and several lecturers in international law. Third-year law students Cristina Olesti and Alejandro Arraut also participated.

Afterwards, Oana Maria Duma, a representative from the European Personnel Selection Office, led a session on professional opportunities and internships within the European Union.
