The UIC Barcelona Hosts the Barcelona Shoulder Course Cadaver Workshop

On Thursday and Friday, 22-23 January 2015, the UIC's Surgical and Functional Anatomy Laboratory hosted the Barcelona Shoulder Course cadaver workshop organized by Dr. José María Mora of the Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa (Terrassa Health Consortium), Dr. Carlos Torrens of the Parc de Salut Mar (Mar Health Park) and Dr. Marian Lorente of the UIC Barcelona. The course was designed to explore the techniques used to insert shoulder prostheses and was attended by 30 national and international medical residents.

The first day included lectures and clinical case studies, and the second day featured a practical session. The practical session included a video with step-by-step explanations of some techniques for inserting the shoulder prosthesis. Participants had six work stations, each supervised by a medical professor and attended by a technician from Medcomtech, the company that sponsored the course and provided the prosthetic materials.

The course was given by: Dr. Robert Cermeño (Hospital General de Segovia), Dr. Pere Fillat (Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu), Dr. Rafael López Arévalo (Hospital Quirón, Malaga), Dr. Pedro Martínez-Victorio (Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca, Murcia), Dr. Victor Melero (Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu) and Dr. Fernando Santana (Parc de Salut Mar).
