UIC Barcelona hosts the closing meeting of the Erasmus+ project on healthy working environments in critical care

The meeting brought together representatives from the different bodies involved in the project “Healthy working environments for critical care nurses (HWE4CCN)”, and presented the conclusions obtained from the participating countries and discussed future lines of work for the course they have created

On 25 and 26 January, UIC Barcelona hosted the closing meeting of the Erasmus+ project on healthy working environments in critical care. The meeting was attended by representatives of the countries that have participated in the project.

Funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, the project “Healthy Working Environment for Critical Care Nurses (HWE4CCN)” has come to an end after two years of work. It was led by the Association of Nurses and Midwives of Cyprus (Cyprus) in cooperation with the Croatian Nurses Society of Anaesthesia, Reanimation, Intensive Care and Transfusion (Croatia), the Polish Association of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Nurses (Poland), Media Partners (Romania) and UIC Barcelona (Spain), represented by Dr Mireia Llaurado and lecturer Cristina Alfonso from the Department of Nursing.

As a result of the work carried out by the various participants, a training course has been created to improve the working environment in critical care units. Available in English, as a vehicular language, and in the languages of the five countries participating in the project, this is the first open and multilingual blended (online and face-to-face) training course for nursing educators to develop their knowledge, skills and competences in healthy working environments in order to train nurses in their facilities’ critical care units.

The course includes online training in healthy working environments for critical care unit nurses; provides methods, tools and support materials for ICU nurse trainers; and lesson plans on the six dimensions of healthy working environments collected by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Access the course.

Over the course of the project’s two years, Spain has hosted one of the kick-off sessions for the pilot tests of the project, organised at the Sant Cugat Campus and attended by 18 people, and subsequently the online session in which the course promoted by the project's collaborators, with the participation of 37 people from different areas of healthcare in Spain, including a representative of the Humanising Intensive Care (H-ICU) project.
