On Tuesday 21 September, U-Multirank published the results of their 8th ranking, which assessed a total of 1,900 universities from 97 countries across the world. According to the results, UIC Barcelona stands out once again in the “Regional Engagement” category for the second consecutive year and has improved its score in comparison to the previous edition. In this respect, this year's classification again shows the institution as the best university in the world, Europe and national sphere in this category.
UIC Barcelona also achieved the classification of excellent in the institutional category, coming in at 154th out of the 1088 participating universities from around Europe, and ranked 10th out of a total of 79 Spanish university institutions.
As regards specific areas of knowledge, the institution was placed in 3rd position in the field of knowledge of dentistry out of a total of 87 European universities classified, and 2nd out of a total of 16 universities analysed in Spain. Additionally, in this same category, UIC Barcelona stands out nationally in the dimensions of “International” (1st position out of 16 universities) and “Regional Engagement” (3rd position out of 16 universities).
The results in other areas of specific knowledge such as Medicine, Nursing and Psychology have also improved as compared to the previous edition. UIC Barcelona is ranked in position 87 out of 133 European universities and position 28 out of 38 Spanish universities classified in the Medicine category.
In the field of Nursing, the position of the institution according to the results is 32 out of 123 European universities and 18 out of 43 universities in Spain. Likewise, U-Multirank points out the good position now held by UIC Barcelona in the “knowledge transfer” category in Nursing, since it is in 5th position out of 43 Spanish universities.
Finally, according to the results of the student surveys, the ranking positions the University as one of the top 10 universities nationwide in the field of knowledge of Psychology out of a total of 41 universities classified.
U-Multirank is an international multidimensional ranking of higher education institutions, promoted by the European Union, which allows for comparisons in the institutional field as a whole and also by subject. In addition, this tool provides the user with the opportunity to create customised rankings, and second indicators covering five different categories: Teaching and learning, research, knowledge transfer, international outlook and contribution to regional development.
