UIC Barcelona organises the 4th edition of the Alta Mar Entrepreneurship Conference in Calonge and Sant Antoni
Based on the theme “+Value, Stand Out to Compete”, the conference took place on 25 and 26 November, in the Palau Firal in Sant Antoni and focused on companies and startups that succeed due to certain business models and stand-out value proposals. The Minister for Research and Universities in the Generalitat de Catalunya opened the conference.
The Alta Mar Entrepreneurship Conference has now become consolidated as one of the benchmark events in the world of entrepreneurship, marketing and innovation.
Over two days, a series of talks covering different areas of entrepreneurship were organised: Business model, marketing, finance and teams, among others, with speakers such as Pau Llumbi, founder of B2B Marketing & Sales Academy and CEO of Marketers Group, and Guillermo Gaspart, founder and CEO of ByHours. Llambí’s session was entitled: “How to generate +value with digital marketing”, while Gaspart’s was entitled: “Innovating in the hotel sector through new business models.”
On the other hand, in relation to funding, Jorge Lluch, co-founder of Abacum and former CFO of Wallapop, demonstrated his experience in how to fund a startup; Aleix de Castellar, CFO of Apartool and former CEO of MyPoppins, helped answer the following question “I have an idea, can it be a good business idea?: How to create an MVP and the initial round of investment”; and Pep Casas, founder and partner of Neoko Capital, talked about how to validate an idea and look for an investor for a project. Finally, Angel Bou, co-founder and CEO of Simplr, focused his presentation on the keys at the beginning of any entrepreneurial process.
Also, with the aim of helping to get the most out of your time and being more effective, Agustin Peralt, a consultant and expert in personal productivity and author of the books Lidérate and Los 6 pilares de la resiliencia gave a session in which the title said it all: “Keys to personal effectiveness: gain 1 day a week!”.
But the Entrepreneurship Conference not only covered business: renowned chefs such as Quim Casellas, chef and owner of Casamar, a restaurant with a Michelin star, demonstrated how to contribute value in the world of cuisine, and continuing with the world of experiences, Xavier Camos, Moritz's marketing manager, talked about how to stand out in commodity markets, with a talk on “Moritz against the Goliaths”.
At a round table for female entrepreneurs, Mar Alarcon described her experience as the founder of Social Car and the conference also offered a round table with Calonge entrepreneurs such as Maria Angels Crespo, from Caner-Crespo Asesores; Sandra Palle, from Pallars Fustes, and Elena Vidal, from Fincas Valentina. Finally, Silvia Martinez, LEXCREA's founding partner, talked about the “legal pitfalls to avoid in your startup.”
The main lecture was given by Didac Lee, an entrepreneur, businessman and investor. He is the co-founder and owner of Galdana Ventures, Insprit and Tradeinn, and also participated in the Fet a Catalunya awards ceremony, organised by the NEEC.
