This initiative, set up by UIC Barcelona Faculty of Dentistry, the Universidad Europea Miguel de Cervantes, the Faculty of Dentistry in the University of Seville, and Klockner, raised more than €22.600 to support the health service in Hospital de La Paz in Madrid
Kickcovid.org, the online solidarity event organised by Dr José Nart, head of the Periodontics Area in the Faculty of Dentistry at out university, along with three other organisations, took place on 11 April . Aimed at dental professionals, the main objective of the initiative was to raise funds to support the health services in Hospital de la Paz, in Madrid, due to the situation caused by the Covid-19 virus.
Thanks to the participation of 1.300 professionals, KickCovid.org managed to raise more than €22.600 that was used to purchase healthcare material for the Madrid hospital. “In addition to raising funds, one of the main approaches of this initiative was to create a dynamic event in which the participating professionals could share their knowledge,” said Dr Nart.
The event programme focused on different specialisations in the world of dentistry, such as Orthodontics and Periodontics. In addition, the event was attended by 54 speakers from Spain and Portugal, including Dr Ernest Lucas, Dr Herminio García and Dr Federico Hernández, UIC Barcelona lecturers.
