UIC Barcelona participates in the third edition of Arduino Day
Bioengineering students have once again participated in the event, which was organised by the Bioengineering Institute of Technology with the Observatory on Artificial Intelligence and New Technologies to publicise different possibilities offered by Arduino technology
On 22 March the Sant Cugat Campus hosted different activities within the framework of the Arduino Day, promoted by the Bachelor's Degree in Bioengineering. To mark the day, members of the Arduino user community from around the world organise workshops and sessions to present this multi-purpose, easy-to-use electronic board. The tool itself nurtures a culture of do-it-yourself, enabling non-specialised users to build attractive robotics, electronics and automation projects.
Third year students from the bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering from UIC Barcelona organised an initiation workshop to the world of Arduino, a meeting with subject experts and the screening of a short film about the history of the famous electronic plate.
The event also saw the presentation of the team representing UIC Barcelona at the next edition of the Cybathlon, the bionic Olympics that will take place in October 2024 in Zurich. Roman Pérez, director of the bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering and the Bioengineering Institute of Technology, made the presentation.
The Cybathlon is an international competition aimed at university students with the challenge of developing assistive technology for people with disabilities. The UIC Barcelona team, named ArmTyr, will compete in the Arm Prosthesis Race with the aim of developing a prosthetic arm capable of passing tests that involve everyday tasks. The team is sponsored by the Grau Soler Orthopedics.
