At an event held at the Moritz Barcelona Factory with all the Catalan universities, vice-rector of the UIC Barcelona University Community Esther Jiménez presented the UIC Barcelona participant jersey for UNIRUN on 5 March
UIC Barcelona is just one of the 12 universities that will promote and participate in the ninth edition of UNIRUN, university marathon. The event will be held on 5 March in the cities of Barcelona and Sant Adrià de Besòs.
During the presentation, UIC Barcelona was represented by Esther Jiménez, vice-rector of the University Community; Roser Santigosa, Director of the University Community; and Ernest Martínez, Head of the Sports Service at UIC Barcelona. Esther Jiménez presented the jersey that the UIC Barcelona university community members will wear. This year’s shirt is special; it features the 25th anniversary logo of the University.
The event is promoted by all 12 Catalan universities and the ECU (Catalan University Sport), with support from the Barcelona City Council, General Secretariat for Sport and Sant Adrià de Besòs City Council. It is sponsored by Adidas and organised by Gaudium Sports.
The run will begin at 9.30 a.m. and 5,000 participants have signed up. The starting and finish line are close to each other in the same route in the Auditorium Park of the Parc del Forum.
The patron of the ninth UNIRUN is Bernat Erta, an athlete from Lleida who was Spanish 400m champion and who participated in the 4x400m mixed relay in the Tokyo Olympic Games, where he broke the Spanish record.
This edition will donate the charity registration fees to the Lleida Food Bank that works to guarantee the right to a decent meal for the people in the Lleida area.
