“Prosthetic and Orthotic Engineering” is a branch of engineering that focuses on the application of the principles and techniques of engineering in the field of dental prosthetics, orthotics and the locomotor apparatus. There is a great deal of professional demand for this due to increased life expectancy, which means members of this field need to be substituted or corrective systems need to be put into place to optimise their functionality.  Up until now, this degree programme was taught in countries such as the USA, Australia, Canada, England and Scotland.

As well as this programme, which is still pending approval from the Universities Council, the UIC Barcelona stand also presented its 13 official degree programmes and its 8 double international degree programmes, among which the Double Degree in Architecture along with the University of Belgrano (Argentina) and the Double Degrees in the Faculty of Communication Sciences and Law with Iona College New York stand out. UIC Barcelona also holds an agreement with the University of California, Berkeley, which allows students from certain degree programmes to study towards some credits at its summer school and for these credits to count towards their degree programme here in Barcelona.

Over the past few days at this education fair the university also offered a virtual reality activity to participants, during which attendees visiting the stand were able to take a virtual tour around the facilities at UIC Barcelona while they played a game involving hunting for a series of elements. Participation in this game meant they were then eligible to enter a competition on Instagram.
