Over the course of the academic year, the 22 Physiotherapy students who make up the UIC Barcelona rubgy team have won all matches in the Rugby XV league, which is organized by the Universitat de Barcelona, and have therefore been declared champions for the second year running.
The rugby team, which trains under Andoni Sempeiro and Victor Sorenssen for an hour and a half every Tuesday, once again took part in the Rugby XV league organized by the UB. The league began in November 2014 and the team won all monthly matches, which they played against the UB, URL, UPF, the INEFC, ESADE and the UPC. As a result of these victories, they were declared outright champions on Friday, 22 May 2015.
Diego Morilla, Head of Sports on the Sant Cugat campus, celebrated their success, saying, “We have a very young team compared to other university teams, which have been competing for years. These successes are a well-deserved prize for the students and a great incentive to carry on their hard work. We have a fantastic team, which is obviously open to new members from all faculties at the University”.
