UIC Barcelona School of Architecture students design the Loop and Electric Routes installations at the LlumBCN2024 Festival
UIC Barcelona students have been recognised with the Yamaha Young Creative Talent Award for the Electric Routes installation at the Yamaha Light Meeting Point with a special mention for the Loop installation.
Now in its 13th edition, over the weekend of 3 February the LlumBCN2024 Festival turned the neighbourhood of Poblenou into an international light exhibition with over 40 installations. Among the exhibitions were Loop and Electric Routers, designed by students of UIC Barcelona School of Architecture.
With the idea of connecting architecture and nature, Loop focused on raising user awareness of the oblivion of nature in contemporary societies. Located in the central park of Poblenou, the space gave a special prominence to nature using the ingenuity of man-made lighting, showing how architecture can embrace nature literally, rather than destroying it.
The exhibition was tutored by lecturer Iñaki Baquero and designed by the students of UIC Barcelona School of Architecture Albert Ventura, Alan Portugueiz, Al-Bagi Huseynov, Anna Teodora Uta, David Gala, Diana Barnovska, Elena Gallardo, Eva Kurenkova, Gisela Cardona, Iris Bella, Keisy Juarez, Lucas Torolla, Maria Aguirrezabal, Marko Jesic, Megan Struga, Nona Kadieva, Robert Carrion, Thelma Gudbrandsdottir and Zheni Stoyanova.
In addition, five students from the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture have received the Yamaha Young Creative Talent Award for the Electric Routes installation, in the Yamaha Lighting Point area in Santiago Rey square. The installation offered a different perspective around connectivity and freedom of mobility.
This installation won the workshop organised by the LlumBCN Festival sponsored by Yamaha last October. Students Gisela Cardona, Marko Jesic, Nona Kadieva and Roberth Carrión, from Spain, Serbia, Bulgaria and Ecuador have brought their project to fruition and now will be able to enjoy their prize of an experience from the sponsoring brand.
