UIC Barcelona sets up a Childcare and Family Policies Chair with the support of the Joaquim Molins Figueras Foundation

The aim behind this Chair is to create a meeting point between various social agents to tackle the current key issues related to childhood.

The Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) has a new chair, Joaquim Molins Figueras Child Care and Family Policies Chair, set up due to support from the Joaquim Molins Figueras Foundation.

This aim behind this new Chair, which forms part of the Institute for Advanced Family Studies (IESF) in the university, is to promote activities and research projects in the field of caring for minors and family policies.

The current situation of minors within the context of profound changes in the family, in education and in technology, requires specific attention to be paid to the causes of the problems in this field from the perspective of research, training and the development of public and family policies.

For that reason, and from the perspective of providing a service to society, “This chair aims to provide a meeting point between various social agents - the family, the school, public care services, the media and society- to tackle the current key issues related to childhood”, stated Dr Montserrat Gas, director of the IESF and of the new Chair.
