UIC Barcelona takes part in JOBarcelona with a conference on emerging professions in Spain

The coordinator of Strategic Projects at the University was the person charged with hosting the session at the job fair

UIC Barcelona recently took part in JOBarcelona with a conference focused on emerging professions in Spain. The coordinator of Strategic Projects at UIC Barcelona, Jordi Alba, was the person charged with hosting the session attended primarily by career counsellors.

The purpose of the talk was to present the basic competences necessary for facing the new challenges that the job market will pose in the coming years. The presentation included a series of relevant news stories and studies on how to cope with the automation of certain tasks and responsibilities, as well as the emerging jobs which hold the greatest promise for the future in Spain.

During the talk, Alba stressed the need for knowledge on the processing of big data, alternative sources of funding and project management and innovation, in order to ensure workers can successfully handle the new occupations, irrespective of sector.

Some of these professions are related to master’s degrees offered by UIC Barcelona, such as the Master’s Degree in Big Data Science, the University Master’s Degree in Entrepreneurial Financing: Venture Capital and Private Equity and the University Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Production Systems, all taught by the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences.
