UIC Barcelona welcomes the international students joining us this semester
Students from various nationalities from around the world have taken part in the Welcome Sessions organised by International Relations
In both September and January, the University organises introductory sessions for international students who have selected UIC Barcelona as their mobility placement of choice.
In this regard, the International Relations Service is responsible for supporting these students and informing them about the University and the services we offer by holding Welcome Sessions. They also help with any concerns regarding academic matters, accommodation and recreational activities, among others.
This month's sessions were held in small groups on campus, while ensuring everyone strictly followed the health and safety measures as outlined by the health authorities. They held a total of five different Welcome Sessions for students from several countries, including Italy, Germany, France, Ireland, Colombia and Chile.
Three introductory Welcome Sessions were held on our Sant Cugat Campus for students on the Bachelor’s Degrees in Medicine, Dentistry, Education, Bioengineering and Psychology over the course of the weeks beginning 15, 22 and 28 January. Whilst over on our Barcelona Campus, International Relations organised the two remaining sessions for students on the Bachelor’s Degrees in Architecture, Business Administration and Management (ADE), Communication, Law and Humanities, over the course of the weeks beginning 15 and 22 January.
As well as the Welcome Sessions, they also held “Catalan for Dummies” workshops, the first of which was held online on 20 January, and the second was held on-site on Friday 22 January. This activity was organised by the University's Department of Applied Linguistics.
Finally, as with the Welcome Sessions, the "Culture Shock" workshop was also held online, while the Barcelona City Tour took place in person. It was a great success in terms of participation and offered a guided tour of Barcelona by expert city guides.
