UIC Barcelona is working on creating a case study on primary care along with Harvard Medical School

Dr M. Dolores Navarro, Director of the Albert J. Jovell Institute for Public Health and patients at UIC Barcelona and a member of staff at Harvard Medical School has been working in recent months with the Centre for Primary Care at the University of Harvard in order to write up a case study on Primary Care in Catalonia. The system in Catalonia interests them because it has achieved very good healthcare indicators when compared to their own.

Recently the authors of the case study, Erin E. Sullivan, Research Director, and Zara Ibrahim, a researcher from the Harvard Medical School, visited the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at UIC Barcelona.  During their visit they attended a session on the Catalan healthcare system given by Dr Xavier Corbella, Vice-Dean of the Faculty and Director of the Master's Degree in Healthcare Management.  Dr Antoni Peris, a Professor on the Master's programme and Managing Director of both the Castelldefels Health Agents Consortium and EAP Can Bou gave a session on primary care in Catalonia. The two authors and researchers visited the Faculty's facilities and shared their experiences of case study methodology with a number of UIC Barcelona professors.
