UIC Hosts the 2nd SEPES Values Symposium
The UIC's Barcelona Campus hosted the 2nd Social Values Symposium organized by the Spanish Society of Prosthodontics and Aesthetics (SEPES) on Friday and Saturday, 30-31 January 2015. The Symposium was coordinated by UIC Prosthetics Department professor Dr. Marta Serrat, and Dr. Jorge Alonso, and included presentations by nine SEPES and one guest speaker. The first day featured six presentations and the remaining four presentations were given on the second day.
The speakers were: Marta Revilla, Antonio Sáiz-Pardo, Marina García, Carlos Oteo, Juan Zufía, Victoria Sánchez, Bruno Pereira, Vicente Faus and José Espona. This year’s guest speaker was Dr. Didier Dietschi from the Université de Genève. His presentation, “Indications, Advantages and Limits of Direct Restorations in a Comprehensive Approach to Anterior Aesthetics”, discussed the potential of modern composite technology and new clinical protocols. Free-hand bonding techniques have evolved from simple filling materials to become a versatile solution for a wide range of moderate to very complex clinical cases. Composites allow dentists to solve problems in young patients without damaging their teeth. Success depends on practitioners’ clinical experience and their knowledge of these materials.
