UIC to Participate with IEF in Legal Study of Family-Owned Businesses
The UIC Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences has signed a collaboration agreement with the Family-Owned Business Institute (IEF) through which the university will carry out a legal study for the institute on the civil, commercial, taxation, international and administrative matters affecting family-owned businesses.
The agreement creates the faculty’s Family-Owned Business Chair, which will form part of the network of IEF chairs. It will focus on the study of legal issues related to civil, commercial, taxation, international and administrative matters affecting family-owned businesses. Faculty professors specializing in different fields will participate in the study.
The Family-Owned Business Institute is a state-run, non-profit organization that brings together a hundred leading businesses in different fields. The average turnover per company is €1.4 billion, which represents an aggregate total of 16% of Spain’s gross domestic product. If the 1,100 companies in the Family-Owned Business Territorial Associations linked to the institution are included, their total turnover accounts for 26% of GDP.
Dr. Javier Junceda, the Dean of the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences and Director of the new chair, and Dr. Juan Francisco Corona Ramón, the Academic Director of the IEF, were present at the signing of the agreement.
