UIC Professors and Students Participate in 9th National Bioethics Conference

UIC professors María Victoria Roqué, Ignacio Macpherson and Isabel Morales participated in the 9th Conference of the Spanish Association of Bioethics and Medical Ethics, titled «The Universal Language of Bioethics», held in Pamplona on Friday and Saturday, 25-26 October 2013.

UIC professor María Victoria Roqué, a member of the conference's Scientific Committee, presented the paper “The Epistemological Status of Bioethics”. Dr. Ignacio Macpherson, also a professor at the UIC, presented the paper “Statistical Analysis of the Process of Individualization in European Society”. Doctoral degree candidate Isabel Morales, a lecturer in the Faculty of Humanities, presented “Vulnerability in Models of Contemporary Bioethics”.

The 1st University Bioethics Conference, aimed at undergraduate students in Spanish universities, had been held on the previous day, Thursday, 24 October 2013. Pablo Gálvez, a third-year Nursing student at the UIC, presented “The Right to Information: A Conspiracy of Silence with Cancer Patients”.

María Victoria Roqué will chair the 10th Bioethics Conference and the 2nd University Bioethics Conference, which will be held in Barcelona on Thursday and Friday, 23-24 October 2015. The theme will be “Neuroethics: I, Vulnerable”.
