The University participated in the 5th edition of the Alta Mar Business and Entrepreneurship Conference “Evolution” in Calonge and Sant Antoni
Based on the theme “Evolution” the conference took place on 23 and 24 November in the Palau Firal in Calonge and Sant Antoni, Girona. This year the spotlight was on the experience of model startup companies and how evolution is key to their growth and development.
The UIC Barcelona Vice-rectorate for Research, Innovation and Transfer participated another year in the entrepreneurship conference organised by Alta Mar, co-working and business platform in Calonge and Sant Antoni.
The Alta Mar Co-working and Business Centre of the City Council of Calonge and Sant Antoni organised two days of presentations and networking with the aim of encouraging the Girona business sector with inspiring examples and innovative projects. Conference speakers such as the founder of Red Points and Repscan, Josep Coll, who spoke about “freedom, loyalty and respect” as three important values in the entrepreneurial sector. Or Jan Barthe, co-founder of GoodNews, the innovative kiosk company that wants to be the “Starbucks of the new European generations.”
And from the investor side, Christian Rodríguez spoke on "The keys to creating a successful startup company." With data revealing 80% of the new businesses fail within the first three years, Rodríguez gave the keys to the phases of creating a company and the key characteristics that an entrepreneur must have.
The conference closed with an inspiring talk by speaker Victor Kúppers. On an inspirational note, Kúppers gave key points to keep the project undertaken from consuming daily life: let the most important thing be the most important thing, and know that every now and then you have to stop, and have a kind and thankful attitude.
