The WeCare Chair receives a grant from the Instituto de Salud Carlos III to design and systematise the assessment of patients in the field of palliative care

The Fund for Research in Health will therefore be funding the multicentre project presented by WeCare and which will be developed between 2019 and 2022

The Instituto de Salud Carlos III of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities has awarded one of its grants to the team of researchers of the WeCare Chair for a national multicentre project focused on palliative care. Of the 589 projects to which the Spanish Government has awarded grants this year, this is the only one that studies this area.

Under the title “Implementation of a Systematic Assessment of Multidimensional Needs in Palliative Care”, this study is aimed at designing and systematising the assessment of patients who require palliative care.  To do so, the team of researchers of the WeCare Chairs has the cooperation of ten hospitals, as well as patients and their families.

"This project will contribute to the fairness and the efficiency of palliative care of cancer, with the benefits that it entails for patients, families, staff and the healthcare system," states Dr Cristina Monforte, Director of the Department of Nursing and Co-Director of the WeCare Chair.

The project also seeks to strengthen the innovative and responsible research that aims to bridge the gap that exists between the scientific community and society.
