Xavier Oliver receives the June Nystrom Award as Physiotherapist of the Year 2019

The director of the Department of Physiotherapy was awarded this prestigious distinction during Physiotherapy Night, the final event of the Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy Symposium

On 15 November, the Catalan Association of Physiotherapists hosted Physiotherapy Night, the event during which the winner of the 2019 June Nystrom Physiotherapy Award was announced. This distinction recognises physiotherapists who have made significant contributions to the profession, society, teaching and science. This year, Xavier Oliver, director of the Department of Physiotherapy at UIC Barcelona, and physiotherapist Roberta Ghedina were named joint recipients.

Physiotherapy Night was also the final event of the 9th Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy Symposium, which took place on 15 November in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. Dr Almudena Medina, a lecturer in the Department of Physiotherapy and vice-secretary of the Physiotherapy Society of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, was charged with delivering the event’s opening speech. Over 500 professionals attended the symposium, which included lectures and masterclasses by renowned experts in a host of different areas.
