For yet another year, the Faculty of Dentistry celebrates the feast day of Saint Apollonia

This year also saw another edition of the photography competition and a joint event organised alongside the Official Association of Dentists and Ophthalmologists of Catalonia

On 8 February, the Faculty of Dentistry commemorated the feast day of Saint Apollonia, the patron saint of dentists. The festivities included a number of activities aimed at celebrating the occasion with all Faculty students.

As part of the 7th edition of the photography competition, 83 participants submitted photographs in the “Dental” category, for students and lecturers, and the “Free” category, which was open to all Faculty staff members. In the Dental category, first place went to Lory Abrahamian for her work “Harmony”, for which she took home a pair of Q-Optics 2.5x HD dental loupes with the frame and colour of the winner’s choice. The second-place winner was Pablo Hernández, who won a Tornado X Ultimate Reliability turbine for his project “Acid erosion”. Third place in the category was awarded to Mohamad Falaha for his photograph “A splash of fluorosis”.
In the “Free” category, the first-place award was given for the photograph “Green reflection” by Nelson Gerardo Rodríguez, who won a Mi Band 4 step counting watch.

In addition to this, for the second consecutive year, on 8 and 9 February, the Faculty of Dentistry and the Official Association of Dentists and Ophthalmologists of Catalonia (COEC) organised a joint event with representatives from some of the leading entities in Catalan dentistry. The first part of the joint Saint Apollonia event was held at the COEC’s headquarters, while the second part took place in the Montsió Monastery, in Esplugues de Llobregat.
