Competences/Learning outcomes of the degree programme

  • CN05 - Demonstrate broad and detailed knowledge, as well as critical understanding, of some of the most relevant current issues, topics and specialties in relation to the area of ​​Periodontics and Implants, the scientific field or the professional field.
  • CP01 - Apply a correct diagnosis and treatment plan in the periodontal patient scientifically supported by current literature in periodontics and implants.
  • CP05 - Fully treat those patients in need of periodontal/surgical, orthodontic, and/or prosthodontic treatment, achieving optimal execution of the case.
  • CP06 - Apply advanced periodontal treatments appropriately to any patient, respecting the fundamental rights of equality between men and women, and the promotion of human rights and the values ​​of a culture of peace and democratic values; using language that avoids androcentrism and stereotypes.
  • HB03 - Argue a correct treatment plan referenced in the scientific literature through the presentation of clinical cases of patients treated at the University Dental Clinic.
  • HB04 - Analyze, interpret and critically evaluate complex information, theories and concepts in order to put them into practice.

Learning outcomes of the subject

  • - Interdisciplinary - CN05, HB03, HB04, CP01, CP05, CP06 - 1. Recognize and apply the benefits that orthodontic treatment can bring to a periodontal patient and vice versa. 2. Plan and comprehensively treat those patients in need of periodontal/surgical and orthodontic treatment, achieving optimal diagnosis and execution of the case. 3. Recognize the biological interrelationship between the specialties of endodontics, orthodontics, prosthodontics and periodontics. 4. Describe the main communication routes between the pulp tissue and the periodontium. 5. Identify the periodontal manifestations that can develop endodontic diseases, and the endodontic manifestations that can develop periodontal diseases. 6. Evaluate and develop interdisciplinary therapeutic strategies that reveal a correct interpretation of endoperiodontal pathology. 7. Identify different anatomical and rehabilitative situations that allow correct planning of a case from the selection of the implant to the type of implant rehabilitation. 8. Design the planning of a case through guided surgery and construct guided radiological and surgical splints, as well as the provisional prosthesis itself on implants. 9. Integrate a periodontal and peri-implant maintenance protocol into your clinical practice and analyze different prosthetic complications for their correct treatment.
