Article Analyses Use of Social Networks in Hospitals' Online Communications
Pablo Medina, Iván Lacasa and María Victoria Masos, lecturers at the UIC's Faculty of Communication Sciences, have contributed an article to the academic journal Sphera Publica, which specializes in matters related to communication. It is published by the Universidad Católica de Murcia and is indexed on a number of different databases.
The article, “The Educational Dimension of Hospitals’ Online Communications”, analyses the ways in which hospitals use their websites and social networks to help educate patients and their relatives about health-related matters such as treatments, preventive measures and the like.
If a hospital takes an educational approach to its online institutional communications, the article concludes, it must also commit to the professional management of the various platforms it uses (e.g. websites, blogs, social networks, mobile apps, etc.) in order to position itself as a source of information of the highest possible quality, which will in turn have a positive impact on its brand image.
