On 25 April, Boi Ruiz, director of the Healthcare Management and Health Policy Chair and the University Institute for Patients at UIC Barcelona, participated in the presentation of the “OnTarget” project to Parliament as director of the University’s Healthcare Management and Health Policy Chair
During the session, the former Minister of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Boi Ruiz, as a member of the “OnTarget” expert committee, was one of the members in charge one of presenting the conclusions of the report with the same title as the session: “Advancing a real and collaborative strategy in cancer,” coordinated by the director general of Levin Institutional Health Affairs.
Cancer is one of the major known causes of morbidity and the leading cause of death in the world. In fact, in 2020 about 10 million people died from some type of cancer, that is, almost one in six of those recorded. Fortunately, biological research in cancer has broken out in recent years, with research and advances in prevention, diagnosis and treatment increasing survival by 20% over the past 20 years.
The session was organised by the Spanish Cancer Patients Group (GEPAC) and Daiichi Sankyo, as an initiative to promote knowledge and discussion on oncology among a first-rate multiprofessional and multidisciplinary team.
