The Bosch Aymerich Foundation and UIC Barcelona strengthen their cooperation in research and transfer

UIC Barcelona and the Fundació Bosch Aymerich (FBA) have strengthened their ties of cooperation, driving forward several research and transfer projects as they continue to commit to people and impact society, a common mission in both institutions

Since its inception, the Bosch Aymerich Foundation has supported the Cuides UIC Barcelona Clinic, which opened its doors in 2021, becoming the first university clinic in Spain specialised in palliative care. Today, the FBA has reaffirmed its commitment to this project in favour of patient welfare by recently renewing the cooperation agreement. The creation of Cuides UIC Barcelona has been possible thanks to the support and help from a number of institutions, which have altruistically contributed to promoting our project and disseminating our mission.

For three years, the FBA has also shown its commitment to social transfer through the Bosch Aymerich Family Business Chair at UIC Barcelona. This chair was established in 2020 to further the study of the issuesof the family business succession from a legal perspective. The Chair is part of the UIC Barcelona Faculty of Law and was created with the intention of outlining proposals for legal reforms that help strengthen the legal status of family businesses with particular attention on the complexity of business succession.

At the same time, the University is promoting the “Vida i obra de Bosch i Aymerich" research project, which addresses the life and work of Josep Maria Bosch Aymerich. Led by the assistant director of Institutional Relations at the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture, Íñigo Ugalde, this research project intends to prepare the material necessary for the first reference publication on the Catalan industrial engineer, architect and entrepreneur Josep Maria Bosch Aymerich (1917-2015). This ongoing research project is also aimed at promoting doctoral theses on his figure, which “will contribute to a greater dissemination of his career and provide greater consideration of value of his works,” as Ugalde said.

The relationship between the FBA and UIC Barcelona dates back to 2020, when thanks to the Foundation-driven FBA Fellows Programme, UIC Barcelona incorporated three research fellows to develop their research and teaching work and become part of this scientific talent recruiting process. UIC Barcelona incorporated the following research fellows: Conrado Aparicio, expert in Dentistry and Biomaterials; Lorenzo Chelleri, expert in Sustainability in Architecture, Construction and Urban Planning; Osnat Hakimi, expert in Biomedicine, Bioinformatics and Bioengineering; and later Roni Wright, researcher in Biomedicine under the Department of Basic Sciences who is a Ramón y Cajal Grant recipient.
