Dr Cristina Monforte, finalist in the National Nursing Awards

The Vice-Rector of Academic Planning and Professor of the University, has been nominated as a finalist in the research category of the National Nursing Awards, organised by the General Nursing Council (CGE)

The National Nursing Awards has 30 finalists and their main objective is to recognise the important tasks carried out by nurses in our society.

Finalists were nominated with cooperation from 52 provincial faculties and nursing schools from all over Spain. The awards are divided into six categories, with 5 finalists in each, to recognise the task of a nurse in the field of care, management, teaching and researching, in addition to a lifelong professional career.

Among the finalists is Dr Cristina Monforte, vice-rector of Academic Planning and Ordinance at UIC Barcelona and professor for the Department of Nursing under the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. She is also director of the WeCare Chair: End-of-Life Care and has been nominated in the Research category by the Official College of Nursing of Barcelona (COIB).

Dr Monforte has been vice-rector of Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer, director of the Department of Nursing on the Sant Cugat Campus for the University, and president and vice-president of the National Conference of Nursing Deans. In the field of research, she has focused her work on two main lines: advanced disease care and end-of-life-care, and nursing research in the area of teaching and applied clinical practice. She has been a principal investigator in six national projects and one European project, has collaborated in four international books and has published 56 articles. In addition, she is an evaluator for numerous first quartile (Q1) journals and competitive projects for the Spanish Research Evaluation Agency (AEI) and other international agencies.

Winners of the first edition of the National Nursing Awards will be chosen through a popular online vote that is open to everyone until 30 September
