IDIBELL is a foundation created in 2004 from the merger of several research organizations. The centre manages research at Bellvitge University Hospital, the Catalan Institute of Oncology and the Universitat de Barcelona. The institute is located in Biopol’H medical cluster, an area just outside Barcelona that houses healthcare facilities and research centres.

Dr. Jaume Reventós was born in Barcelona in 1953, He holds a PhD in Medicine and specializes in biochemistry. He has been a professor in the UIC Department of Basic Sciences since the university introduced its medical degree and a full professor since July 2013. Dr. Reventós is currently the Director of the Research Unit in Biomedicine and Translational Oncology at the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR).
