Eduardo Mirpuri, the new vice-rector of International Relations

Dr Mirpuri becomes the new vice-rector for International Affairs, which has been created with the aim of promoting internationalisation and global visibility of UIC Barcelona.

With an Executive MBA from IE Business School, a degree in Biology and a PhD in Cell Biology from the University of Navarra, Eduardo Mirpuri, after a spell as a postdoctoral researcher, has dedicated his entire career to R&D management. He has been head of service at two research centres and in 2008 he joined the Biomedical Research Centre of La Rioja (CIBIR). With over 20 years dedicated to Biomedical Sciences and 12 to university teaching, Dr Mirpuri assumes the leadership of the new vice-rectorate of International Relations at UIC Barcelona.

In his new role, Dr Mirpuri will promote the internationalisation of UIC Barcelona at all levels, not only in the student field, but also in terms of research and teaching staff (PDI) and administration and service staff (PAS). The vice-rectorate aims to establish internationality as one of the University’s fundamental pillars, promoting its integration and experience by all members of the university community.

The vice-rectorate of International Relations will focus on further increasing the global visibility of UIC Barcelona, attracting new international students, and ensuring that the University’s teachers and professionals acquire an international perspective through, for example, experiences in other centres, the incorporation of good practices from foreign universities or the adoption of a global approach in all its activities.

UIC Barcelona's international commitment stems from its very name and extends to all the activities it carries out. The presence of UIC Barcelona in the top international rankings such as the Shanghai Rankings or the Times Higher Education World University Rankings attest to the internationality of UIC Barcelona.

31% of the students at UIC Barcelona are international, with 106 nationalities living together on its two campuses. Some 14% of teachers are international and 45 double degrees are offered.
