First UIC Nursing Alumni Conference

On Saturday, 26 April 2014, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences organized the first UIC Nursing Alumni Conference under the title «The Transition from University to Healthcare: What's Missing?»

The event was opened by Dr. Cristina Monforte, the Director of the UIC Nursing Department.

This was followed by the lecture “Adapting healthcare nursing training to the professional world”, which was delivered by Dolors Llorens, Director of Nursing at the Althaia Foundation, a hospital network in Manresa.

The conference also included a roundtable session titled “University student, professional nurse: different realities?”, which was moderated by Anna Cruz, Director of Healthcare Processes at IDCSalud, and featured Iria Chao (UIC Alumni ’11), a nurse at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and an assistant professor at the UIC; Miguel Santana (UIC Alumni ’10), a nurse at IDCSalud Hospital General de Catalunya; Anne Isasi (UIC Alumni ’13), a nurse at the SARquavitae Social and Health Care Centre in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat; and Laura Benavides (UIC Alumni ’13), a nurse at the primary healthcare centre in Castellar del Vallès.

The event was then brought to a close by Albert Tort, the President of the Official Association of Nurses of Barcelona.

The conference was organized in collaboration with IDCSalud, one of Spain's leading healthcare service providers.
