Five students from UIC Barcelona win the Fourth MAPFRE Foundation bugaMAP championship
The five participants, from the Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management (ADE) at UIC Barcelona, won the Fourth bugaMAP Catalonia and the Balearic Islands Championship final at the MAPFRE Tower in Barcelona
On Thursday, 9 March, a team made up of five ADE students from the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) won the Fourth bugaMAP Catalonia and the Balearic Islands Championship at the final held at the MAPFRE Tower in Barcelona. Each one had to make decisions related to underwriting, reinsurance, investments and expenses to make their company the one to generate the greater value among the four finalist groups. The prize they won consisted of an individual gift card valued at 200 euros.
The Universitat Internacional de Catalunya has won the BugaMAP Championship for the second time after winning in the 2019 edition. The MAPFRE business game, known as bugaMAP, is a business simulation game that teaches university students and postgraduate students from many countries how insurance business management works by making decisions and simulating their impact on the company's market shares, results and solvency.
Eight seminars were held in the qualifying phase of the event in which nearly 200 students from the University of Girona, University of the Balearic Islands, the University of Lleida, the Abat Oliba CEU University, the ESERP Business School, the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya, the Pompeu Fabra University and the FUB Manresa participated. They all passed the tests related to this insurance simulator (bugaMAP NO-VIDA) and had to manage the assigned companies to grow their companies and set themselves apart from the rest of the simulated market.
Montserrat Guillén, patron of MAPFRE Foundation, and Joaquim Miró, regional director of MAPFRE in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, participated in the awards ceremony. Montserrat Guillén thanked all the participants for their involvement in this championship and stressed the importance of this kind of initiative in promoting the insurance culture among the university community.
