Innovation and connection in the biomedical sector were the focus of the second edition of the CEBUIC congress, held at Campus Sant Cugat

About a hundred students of Biomedicine from different parts of Spain attended the new edition of the CEBUIC Congress, organised by the students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences of UIC Barcelona which took place over 2, 3 and 4 July

Over the three days, the Sant Cugat campus brought together nearly 100 students, researchers and professionals from biomedical companies in the second edition of the CEBUIC Congress, promoted by the students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences.

Rector Alfonso Méndiz was in charge of kicking-off a new edition of the congress, which has doubled participation compared to last year and hosted several activities such as presentations, round tables, networking spaces, workshops and the live production of the BioEmprendedores podcast.

The second edition of CEBUIC included the active participation of UIC Barcelona students, but also brought together Biomedicine students from different parts of Spain such as Navarra, Madrid, Cantabria and Valencia. The student organisers explained: “We highly value the participation of young people from across the country, enriching discussions and knowledge sharing, creating a dynamic and collaborative environment.”

CEBUIC has also benefited from the collaboration of companies in the biomedical sector as well as the participation of leading experts in this field, such as the researchers of the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) Eva Colas and Laura Aguilera; Antonio Villaverde, from the Institute of Biotechnology and Biomedicine (IBB-UAB); María Poveda, investment director at Inveready; Maribel Berges, managing director of Affirma Biotech; Santi Marfa, business development director at GP Pharm; and Petia Radeva, researcher at Computer Vision Center (CVC).

“The good reception and support received from the University and the sector has allowed this congress to offer an exceptional opportunity for Biomedicine students to connect with professionals and experts from various fields of the biomedical sector, promoting innovation and advances in this discipline,” stressed the organisers.

The UIC Barcelona Biomedical Student Congress is now established as the annual event for all young people who are passionate about dissemination, innovation and scientific-business knowledge within the biomedical sector.
