Isabela Pérez Nivela, vice-president for Legal Strategy and Corporate Functions of the Coca-Cola European Partners Group, patron of the Faculty of Law graduation ceremony

Students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Law, the University Master’s Degree in the Legal Profession (MUA) and the postgraduate degree in Compliance and Cybersecurity, received their sashes in the Aula Magna, as part of the graduation ceremony held on 8 June

Faculty of Law students graduated the Bachelor’s Degree in Law, the University Master’s Degree in the Legal Profession (MUA) and the postgraduate degree in Compliance and Cybersecurity on 8 June in the Aula Magna on the Barcelona Campus, with Isabela Pérez Mivela, vice president for Legal Strategy and Corporate Functions of the Coca-Cola European Partners Group as patron of the graduating class, in an event led by the rector, Dr Alfonso Méndiz. 

The event was opened by Pilar Fernández Bozal, dean of the Faculty of Law and partner in charge of Public Law at EY España consulting firm, who congratulated the graduates for their “ability to work, adapt, nobility and solidarity,” especially during the first academic year, which coincided with Covid-19. She also encouraged the new professionals to" be rigorous and humble, as well as patient and persevering."

Next, the graduation class patron, Isabela Pérez Nivela, current vice president of Legal Strategy and Corporate Functions of the Coca-Cola European Partners Group, president of the board of directors at Andbank Wealth Management and independent director at Holaluz. Pérez Nivela encouraged the graduates not to forget the duty and the reason of their profession. “Our work as law professionals is to apply legal analysis and rules to complex human and professional situations to provide justice, facilitate public or private relationships and prevent and/or resolve conflicts.” Finally, she emphasised the role that lawyers play in society. “We are an active part of the working of our democratic system,” she stated. 

University Rector Alfonso Méndiz closed the event by inviting the new Alumni to the UIC Barcelona Global Meeting that will be held on 21 June. He also encouraged graduates not to lose sight the University’s values. “I hope that you aspire to go far in your profession. I encourage you to seek happiness, excellence, professionalism and rigour. The rest will follow.”

The ceremony ended with the singing of the University’s traditional song “Gaudeamus Igitur.”
