Jaume Padrós Wins Barcelona Medical Association Elections

Jaume Padrós, a member of the UIC Academic and Social Council, was elected the new President of the Barcelona Medical Association (COMB) on Wednesday, 12 February 2014.

Padrós is a family practitioner, an occupational physician and a geriatrician. He is a member of FC Barcelona's medical team and was the Vice President of COMB until he won the elections. The new President of the medical association stood for the election by pledging to work towards “more flexible, more democratic management of the healthcare system”.

He said, “COMB is an advocate of the public healthcare system and must strive to ensure that healthcare provision is impartial and that standards of excellence are maintained. The organization needs to become more participatory in order to achieve this”. His candidacy included family practitioners and specialists from Barcelona’s large hospitals.

Jaume Padrós has also recently become a member of the UIC Academic and Social Council, which comprises professionals from different sectors who perform consultative and advisory tasks and also handle promotion of the UIC.
