Judith Urbano speaks in a session on the architect Mackintosh in Perpignan

Under the title “De l’influence de Mackintosh sur les architectes catalans,” the dean of the UIC Barcelona Faculty of Humanities, Judith Urbano, gave a lecture in Perpignan on 14 September. The session is part of the series in the centennial celebration of the Mackintosh couple’s arrival to the Catalan Pyrenees, organised by the Association C. R. Mackintosh in Roussillon

Architects Charles Rennie and Margaret Mackintosh arrived in Roussillon 100 years ago. “1923-1927: Les longues vacances des Mackintosh en Roussillon” is the title that encompasses these sessions. Different towns in southern France hosted a series of sessions and events between 13 and 19 September.
Specifically, on Thursday, 14 September, the dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Judith Urbano, spoke about the influence of Mackintosh on Catalan architects. This session, organised by the CRESEM research group and its counterpart Patrimoines, took place at the Université de Perpignan Via Domitia. The theme of the event was “100 ans plus tard: Charles Rennie Mackintosh, de l’Ecosse au Roussillon.”
The Dean of Humanities was accompanied by experts and researchers such as Joseph Sharples, curator of the Hunterian Gallery in Glasgow, or Peter Trowles, who was curator of the Glasgow School of Arts for 30 years, among others.
